Through a Grant from Wake Education Partnership, I was able to transform the courtyard off of the art room. This area was left barren after a major renovation to the school during the 1999 - 2000 school year. The concrete pad had been poured to allow students a place to work outside; creating from life. There was nothing for them to use as inspiration!! The $2500 Food for Thought Grant gave me the ability to amend the soil, install a pond, establish a path, and purchase and plant several small trees, bushes and perennials. Thanks to the help and generosity of students, parents, grandparents, teachers, administrators, our schools PTSA, and the love of gardening instilled in me by my late father; the bones of the courtyard have been established. It is a work in progress. Each year plants will be added.
